The Battle and the Revolution

Ninety years ago the Battle of Caporetto (Italian military disaster during World War I in which Italian troops retreated before an Austro-German offensive on the Isonzo front, northwest of Trieste) and the October Revolution (also called Bolshevik Revolution, the second and last major phase of the Russian Revolution of 1917, in which the Bolshevik Party seized power in Russia, inaugurating the Soviet regime).

The October 1917 retreat from Caporetto was documented by Ernest Hemingway in his novel A Farewell to Arms.
